MESSAGE FROM FR. ANTHONY

The pictures inside this Newsletter of the outdoor Mass on the feast of the Sacred Heart do not completely show the wonderful attendance of so many this year. From a small group of about 50 who attended our first celebration several years ago...we are now blessed to see over 200 joining us in honor of our beloved Sacred Hearts. To truly appreciate how inspired we as Missionaries are by this, you have to know that June weather and conditions here in New Jersey often present Mass goers with a true sacrifice. One year, we may suffer from 90° plus temperatures and high humidity, other years it is the invasion of biting gnats that plague our area in May and June...and, of course, the ever present threat of a summer thunderstorm—and often as not we face all three at one time. But still the faithful are truly that...FAITHFUL! xIn these days when we hear so much about diminishing attendance at Mass, the growing attraction of this event to so many, young and old, causes me to stop in wonder at the work of the Holy Spirit. I believe our humble act of sacrifice pleases God and it is His Spirit in the hearts of those who make it a point to be with us that is allowing our celebration to grow. The little 'tests' he sends once in a while, keep us on the right path to accepting small sacrifices and a little suffering for the chance to offer our love to the Heart of Jesus. I must tell you that this year we were spared...the day was beautiful—not too hot—the gnats did not visit us—and the sky was a beautiful clear blue. We will hold this thought that we may be encouraged as we plan for next year!

God bless you and keep you always,

Father Anthony, M.SS.CC.
