FR. LEONARD CARRIERI, M.SS.CC.
SHARING GOD'S
GIFT THROUGH SCULPTURE |
Fr. Leonard Carrieri, now in his 64th year of priesthood,
has indeed shared the gifts and talents that God has blessed him with
constantly in his pastoral work of counseling, comforting, and bringing
the word of God and the Sacraments to all those he has served.
But at the age of 54 he discovered another talent, seemingly
unknown to him, that of sculpting.
His latest creation, the statue of St. John
Neumann was recently dedicated at the church that bears the saint's
name in Sicklerville in the Diocese of Camden, New Jersey. Fr. Carrieri joined the pastor, Fr. Edward Rosinski and Bishop
Nicholas DiMarzio, at the Mass, dedication and blessing of the new
shrine on June 11.
In describing his work, Fr. Carrieri said,
" My intention was to show a bishop as a priest first of all--a
person of God's grace." |
Much of Father's work, along
with being an original depiction of the subject, also
incorporates a deeper meaning, drawing those who view them to find
a message of humanity and spirituality.
Surely the many statues that grace churches throughout the
Camden Diocese and beyond, stand as tangible evidence of a talent--God's
special gift to him - that Fr. Carrieri has eagerly and vibrantly
used to inspire all to see the love of God.

VEN. GAETANO
ERRICO,
M.SS.CC
(continued
from page 1)
through the sole intercession of Fr. Errico.
These reports and approvals will now be placed before
a Panel of Cardinals to verify if the process has been properly
conducted and that God's intervention is clear. If so, they will recommend it to the Pope for his signature.
It is possible that the |
Holy Father's signature will be come a reality
by the end of this year. A decree will be published that our Founder
can be considered a saint in heaven and his prayers on our behalf
are effective. He will
deserve the title of Blessed.
We will be able to offer
prayers to God in honor of the new Blessed Gaetano Errico….a process
that started in 1908 will conclude after almost 100 years…May God
be praised! |
