On
January 9, 2001, the Assembly of Cardinals and Bishops of the Congregation
for the Causes of Saints unanimously approved the miracle attributed
to Venerable Gaetano Errico, M.SS.CC.
The last remaining step is the signature of the Holy Father John
Paul II expected shortly after Easter, and the assigning of
a date for the solemn beatification ceremony at the Vatican.
Our
Fall 2000 Newsletter shared the story of the Gaetana & Salvatore
Caccioppoli, whose deep faith and reliance on the intercessory power
of the beloved Fr. Errico brought an answer to their fervent prayer.
Salvatore, in extreme pain, was diagnosed with a perforated
duodenal ulcer with peritonitis. Emergency surgery was arranged.
Gaetana, long devoted to Fr. Errico, placed his relic on
the pillow of her husband and they both prayed for his intercession.
Almost immediately
Salvatore's life threatening condition improved and he was
returned to good health. An
x-ray taken some days later confirmed that the ulcer, clearly visible
in previous x-rays had disappeared. |

The
beatification process follows a long and ardent investigation, by
several panels of medical experts and theologians and ultimately proved
that the effect of the miracle was granted through the sole intercession
of Ven. Gaetano Errico. |

"THE
WIDOW'S MITE!"
Remember
the scripture story of the widow who offered a very small coin to
God and how precious it was in His eyes because it was all she had?
This wonderful lesson is one we take to heart in
our development office. Each
and every gift, large or small is truly precious to us and deeply
appreciated. And
although we cannot know the measure of the charity behind each gift…our
Heavenly Father sees and knows all.
So, please, please accept
an extra thank you for all your gifts…may God bless your
generosity. |
