Pope John Paul II beatifies Blessed
Gaetano Errico, Founder of the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts
of Jesus and Mary. |
|
During
a solemn liturgy in St. Peter's Square, Sunday, April 14, six people
were beatified by Pope John Paul, including Fr. Gaetano Errico, Founder
of the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
His Holiness especially noted Fr.Errico's dedication to care of the
people, tirelessly giving of himself and of his time to listen to
penitents, welcoming them to accept God's forgiveness and love.
He said of Fr. Errico's example, "it inspires us to rediscover
the value and importance of the sacrament of penance, where God liberally
distributes His forgiveness and shows His fatherly tenderness toward
His weaker children." |

of residents of Naples and its surrounding towns, along with a pilgrimage
group from the United States had come in honor of Fr. Errico. |
