Our Lady’s Prayer Garden dedicated at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Linwood, NJ.

   Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of the Diocese of Camden, NJ presided at the dedication of Our Lady of Sorrows Prayer Garden at the Linwood Parish staffed by the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts. Holy Mass, concelebrated with the Bishop and Fr. Malcolm MacLeod, Pastor, procession with the Blessed Sacrament and the blessing of the garden, with its memorial to the victims of September 11, highlighted the day long celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows on Sunday, September 15.  A parish picnic followed attended by parishioners and many from surrounding parishes who participate in the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration program at the parish.

   The garden features seven separate plantings in honor of the seven sorrows of Mary….each a memorial donated by parishioners in honor of a loved one. The winding pathway features memorial “ bricks” engraved with names of deceased family members or in honor of a special occasion.  The center point of the garden is a statue of Our Lady of Sorrows and the memorial marker for the victims of September 11.


First Annual Benefactors’ Thanksgiving Mass set for November 28

   In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Development program of the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts, a Mass of Thanksgiving will be held on Thursday, November 28, Thanksgiving Day.  If will be offered for those donors who have continuously supported the congregation for 20 or more years.  This special Thanksgiving Mass will become an annual event offered for those benefactors  whose support has been unfailing for 20 years.  This year 64 donors reached that 20 year mark and were sent special Mass cards announcing the Mass.  The Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts are deeply grateful to have so many long and faithful benefactors who, not only through their gracious gifts, but more assuredly through their prayers, have encouraged and enabled our work and mission to continue.
