Shaping Mind and Soul
“Shaping Mind and Soul” is not just a motto on the logo of the new Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts English Medium High School in Kuchipudi, India, but rather is its goal.
The new school in the state of Andhra Pradesh in southern India, was dedicated on April 27, 2012. His Excellency, Most Rev. Moses D. Prakasam, Bishop of Nellore, and Superior General, Fr. Salvatore, Izzo. presided at the dedication ceremony. The new school is situated on grounds adjacent to the Sacred Hearts primary and middle school that currently serves 650 students grades Pre-K through 12.
In the area villages surrounding the two Sacred Hearts schools, the availability of educating the children close to their homes and doing so within their Catholic faith has been an untold blessing to the faithful. Prior to the founding of the first school in 1986, the only school was government run in the local language, Telegu. Our schools are the first English schools. The school is staffed by the Dorothean Sisters of the Sacred Hearts and our priests. The current principal is Fr. Anthony Samy, M.SS.CC.
